Writing.....

During my writing process this weekend, I was nudged by a thought that resonated within me. When I wrote my debut Mirrored, I wrote the story for me. I wasn’t concerned about who would like it or who wouldn’t. In fact, my first thoughts as I begun writing was that I would keep the story to myself. My success was that I had completed something. After sharing the first few pages and then the first couple of chapters I was encouraged to get it published. It was such an enjoyable experience for me. Once I published and started getting to know the business (I’m still learning), I’ve become so overwhelmed with the entire process. I had doubted myself as a writer, based on other writers’ voices, their stories and their successes. I’ve decided to go back to writing for me. Writing a story that I would like to read. Using my own unique voice. I won’t be following what is trending. Some people will like it, some people won’t like it at all, but in the end, it will be my story and my success would be finishing my story written from my heart.

Until next time.......

Weekend fun!

Who doesn't love the weekend! I had such a fun time this weekend.  I participated in an African American Heritage Festival in Manassas Virginia.  It was so much fun.  The turnout was great.  The vendors had some wonderful things on display and the food was absolutely delicious.  I had several people stop by my booth and grab autographed copies of my book, Mirrored.  I also met some fellow authors.  It was a fantastic day.  How do you spend your summer weekends?

Here is a peek at my book cover for my upcoming book titled, Teardrops Know My Name.

Coming soon! - Fall 2014
